Award Winner
The client brief was to deliver a sustainable home on a small footprint that was architecturally unique, taking inspiration from Spanish barns. The finished product delivers in every respect.
Boasting an 8.5 star energy rating, the home features rooftop solar panels, heat pump hot water, hydronic heating, water storage and a design that maximises cross-flow ventilation. Hempcrete walls contribute a unique aesthetic in addition to exceptional insulation.
Winner, 2025 HIA Victorian Western Victoria GreenSmart Sustainable Home Award.
Urban Build
A stunning, modern architectural townhouse development across three levels, built on a very tight site. Execution needed to be precise, with complex challenges including careful protection strategies for closely neighbouring properties.
The result: three striking modern townhouses, each boasting three large bedrooms, three bathrooms and two parking spaces.
Renovation
Renovation to an existing farmhouse with a modern, architecturally designed extension at the rear. Careful consideration during the design stage ensured the newly built extension complemented the older front farmhouse.
Instead of standard 90mm x 45mm timber, the frame was constructed using a deeper 140mm x 45mm dimension. This allowed us to increase insulation levels and improve thermal performance considerably, something the clients praised for many years after completion.
Heritage
This project required a careful balance between historical preservation and modern functionality. Key considerations included using hempcrete as wall insulation and finishing with traditional lime plaster to maintain character.
Specialist contractors were engaged, recycled materials incorporated, and modern amenities integrated sensitively throughout.
Hempcrete
Deliver a home with superior thermal insulation, maximised cross ventilation and a commitment to non-toxic materials, allowing the hempcrete walls to breathe naturally.
The build also features rooftop solar panels, heat pump hot water and large water tank storage.
